Pediatric physiatrists are physicians who specialize in the rehabilitation care and medical management of children with brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, neuromuscular disorders, and an array of musculoskeletal conditions.
The pediatric physiatrist’s main objectives are to restore or improve function and maximize quality of life. They diagnose, develop treatment plans, and lead a comprehensive rehabilitation team in creating and delivering effective individualized treatment programs. In addition, pediatric physiatrists work to provide continuity of care as patients’ transition to adult services
Pediatric physiatrists understand how cognitive and physical disabilities affect growth and development. They incorporate this knowledge to work with patients and their families to develop and direct individualized treatment programs. Our pediatric physiatrists see patients in the outpatient setting and in the inpatient setting.
